How to use Mortgage Repayment Calculator

  1. 1Enter the property price and deposit to calculate the mortgage amount and estimated loan-to-value.
  2. 2Choose capital repayment or interest-only, then enter the interest rate and exact term.
  3. 3For repayment mortgages, optionally add a monthly overpayment and review the payment, balance, equity and estimated savings.

Useful tips

  • •Use the rate you expect during the period you are modelling; real mortgage rates and fixed deals can change.
  • •Check your lender's overpayment allowance and early-repayment charges before relying on overpayment savings.
  • •Estimated equity assumes the property value stays unchanged, so it is not a forecast of future house value.

Frequently asked questions

What is LTV?

Loan-to-value is the mortgage amount divided by the property price. This calculator shows the estimated percentage from the price and deposit entered.

How is interest-only different?

The monthly figure covers interest only, so the mortgage capital is still assumed to be outstanding at the end of the term and normally needs a separate repayment plan.

Does this include mortgage fees or future rate changes?

No. It uses the entered rate as a fixed illustrative rate and excludes lender fees, insurance, legal costs, taxes and product-specific APR or APRC components.
