How to use the Minecraft Banner Pattern Generator

1Choose the base banner colour, then select a pattern and dye colour for the next layer.

2Add up to six pattern layers. Use the arrows to change the order because each new loom pattern sits above the previous layers.

3Copy the loom steps and apply them from step 1 onward to reproduce the design in game.

Useful tips

•The base banner colour does not use one of the six loom pattern layers.

•Patterns marked “Pattern item” need the matching reusable banner-pattern item in the loom as well as the banner and dye.

•Order matters. A later layer can cover part of an earlier one, so try reordering the same colours and patterns before changing the design completely.

Frequently asked questions

How many patterns can a normal Minecraft banner have?

A survival loom normally lets you apply up to six pattern layers to a banner. The base banner colour is separate and does not count as one of those six layers.

Which patterns need a banner-pattern item?

The current pattern-item set includes Bordure Indented, Field Masoned, Flower Charge, Creeper Charge, Skull Charge, Thing, Globe, Snout, Flow and Guster. The item is reusable when applying the pattern in a loom.

Is the preview pixel-for-pixel identical to Minecraft?

No. It is a planning preview of the pattern geometry and layer order. Special emblem textures and exact in-game edges can differ slightly, so verify the final appearance in your Minecraft version.

Why do some names sound unusual?

Minecraft uses heraldry terms such as pale, fess, bend, canton, bordure and saltire. The generator keeps the in-game pattern names so the loom steps are easier to follow.
